FD55 head on an 843L-II
Choose from three different felling heads to match your application, tree size, and conditions, so you can maximize productivity. The twin-post FD45 and FD55 heads provide deep pockets for high-accumulation performance and are best suited for thinnings and high-production plantation harvests. The single-post FD22B head is best suited for large timber in clear-cutting applications.

TimberMatic™ Maps monitor displaying live production data
Machine Health Monitoring Center
Now included in base machine, the JDLink™ telematic system provides the foundation for John Deere’s Precision Forestry solutions. These systems help optimize your machine, your uptime, and your jobsites, which ultimately lead to improved production efficiency.
Removable engine panels provide wide-open access to the engine
Easy access to service components helps confirm daily checks and perform scheduled maintenance, which ultimately minimizes unexpected downtime and costly repairs. The L-III lineup of Wheeled Feller Bunchers feature removable engine panels for wide-open access to filters and fluid level checks. Swing out cooler doors and an automatic reversing fan provide effortless cleaning of debris from the coolers. Fluid fills including fuel, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and hydraulic oil can all be easily accessed from ground level, as well as daily greasing points.
Operator sitting in premium cab in rearward seat position
The premium cab offers many comfort features for operators in their office all day. The automatic climate control allows operators to set their desired temperature and forget it. Climate control can be set through the primary display unit (PDU) or on the sealed switch module (SSM).
A secondary display unit (SDU) is also included in the premium cab option. The 7” (17 cm) SDU shows camera views, machine slope (fore and aft as well as side to side, in degrees), machine running temperatures, and light configuration. SDU is located on the corner B-post of the cab, this location is beneficial to operators when operating in the rearward seat position.
Cameras are a new feature included with the premium cab option. Blade view (located above the grill door) is a great opportunity for operators to use when pushing wood to the deck, road building, or traveling forward during thinning operations. Tong view (located in the boom) is beneficial to operators when grabbing a bunch or drag, maximizing grapple usage and operator efficiency. Cameras can be viewed on both the PDU and the secondary display unit (SDU). Each display can toggle between the blade view camera and the tong view camera to accommodate operator preferences.
A few other items included in the premium cab option are a RAM® mount cell phone holder, USB charging ports, windshield wiper, and CB radio mount ready.
Premium cab option includes:
Blade view camera on the SDU
Base cab option includes:
Premium leather seat in a skidder cab
The new premium leather seat option helps maximize operators’ comfort level! This seat is heated and vented to help provide additional comfort when working at variable temperatures. Other adjustments include lumbar support, thigh bolsters, air suspension, seat pan tilt, seat pan extend, seat back, head rest placement, and lateral seat positions for proper operating positions and comfort when reaching the foot pedals.
Tool-less adjustable armrests allow operators to relax their arms and adjust for comfort. Operators can rest their forearms comfortably on our updated arm rest cushions.
